We Take This Seriously on Every Job
Safety & Compliance
Propane Safety
Propane is one of the safest and most reliable energy sources available when it is handled and maintained properly. Red Cap Propane has a dedicated safety page covering everything propane customers need to know, including what to do if you smell gas, how to care for your equipment through the winter, and how our team approaches every delivery.
If you smell gas, get everyone out of the building immediately and call Red Cap Propane at 1-800-661-2673 or 911. Do not go back inside until the problem has been cleared by a professional.
Heating Oil Safety
Heating oil is a stable fuel that stores well and poses lower risk than gas-based fuels in an emergency. That said, a well-maintained heating oil system is a safe one, and there are things every customer should stay on top of.
- Have your furnace and oil tank inspected by a licensed technician every year. Our heating oil delivery team can help you arrange a service call.
- Know where your fill pipe and vent pipe are on the outside of your home and keep them clear of snow and ice so our drivers can complete your delivery.
- If you notice a fuel smell inside your home, unusual soot around your furnace, or a sudden jump in fuel consumption, call us.
- Never store flammable materials near your oil tank or furnace.
Before winter arrives, check that your delivery setup is ready. If you are on automatic delivery you do not need to monitor your tank level. If you are on will call, keep an eye on your gauge and give us at least three business days notice when you need a fill.
Agricultural and Bulk Fuel Safety
Keeping bulk fuel stored and handled properly protects your equipment, your operation, and everyone on your property.
- Fuel tank installations for diesel, gasoline, and propane must be completed by licensed technicians and meet all applicable codes. Beyond meeting code, a properly installed tank will serve your operation safely for years without issue.
- Inspect bulk storage tanks regularly for corrosion, leaks, and wear. Discolouration around the base, soft ground nearby, or a fuel smell without an obvious source are all signs to call us before your next scheduled delivery.
- Keep fuelling areas clear of ignition sources, including operating machinery, cigarettes, and open flames.
- Store coloured diesel separately from clear diesel and other fuels, clearly labelled, to avoid a misfuel. In a modern diesel engine, that is an expensive mistake.
- Know where your emergency shutoff is and make sure anyone on your property knows too, including contractors and seasonal workers.
If your tank installation is older and you are not certain it meets current standards, give us a call. We are happy to come out and take a look.
How Our Team Works
Core Fuels and Red Cap Propane operate across multiple regulated fuel categories in Ontario, each with its own licensing, handling, and delivery requirements. Every member of our team holds the certifications specific to the work they perform, and those credentials are maintained and current.
Our vehicles are inspected before each run and kept on a regular maintenance schedule. Deliveries follow documented procedures for each fuel type, and our team is accountable to those standards on every job.
We are proud members of the Canadian Propane Association. If you have a concern about a delivery, an installation, or anything related to your service with us, call us directly at 1-800-661-2673 or email info@corefuels.ca.
